Where learning is fuelled by creativity

EYFS week beginning 11.3.19

15th March 2019 in Reception, Uncategorized

Phew what a wild and windy week of weather we have had this week. This hasn’t got in the way of our amazing learning though.

In phonics, we have learned 3 new digraphs – nk, oo and ar.  There are lots of things to practise in your child’s reading folder.

In maths, we have been having lots of fun with ordinal numbers  – lots of racing! We have also been learning about 2D (flat)shapes – squares, circles, triangles and rectangles.

We have learned our 8th Wake and Shake song -” Chocolatte”.

We have finished learning the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Next week we will start to learn about The Three Little Pigs. Please don’t tell the children yet, but if you have any copies of that story please could you dig it out in preparation.

We have also been investigating whether objects float or sink in water.

We have planted our potatoes this week.

Red Nose Day has been really fun. We used the morning to celebrate the fact that all of our star teams have filled their cylinders with star tokens. The children voted for 4 activities that they would like to do for their “prize” and they chose – colouring, sand play, bikes and dancing. The dancers learned the Red Nose Day dance – ask your child to give you a demo.

Have a great weekend.
