“Kung Hei Fat Choy” or “Happy Chinese New Year” from Lamorna and Bedruthan class. We have had such an interesting and exciting time learning about Chinese New Year and celebrating the new year of the Pig. We have cut and stuck the Chinese animals in the correct numerical order, folded fans and decorated them with glitter, written Chinese numbers and letters, drawn on lucky envelopes that we made ourselves, acted out the story of The Jade Emperor’s race, made dragons, danced to Chinese music and even joined in with the drumming. It was excellent.
In maths we have continued to learn about 1 more and we have learned about 2 more and then we were introduced to the addition sign and we learned how to combine 2 numbers and find the total. We have even started to write our own number sentences eg. 3 + 2 = 5. As well as all this clever number learning, we have also been exploring repeating patterns.
We have been busy learning more digraphs and tricky words (lots to practise in reading folders). The children are really trying to remember how to read and write ch and th.
Our star learning has moved from learning about owls to learning about bats. We are expecting to see some little Pipistrelle bats next Thursday!
We have been very busy drawing bats and owls on the iPads this week – our pictures are beautiful.
We were very excited to have some visitors on Thursday for “Board Game Club”. We had a lovely time playing snakes and ladders with our visitors. They will be coming back again in a few weeks so that the children who didn’t get a turn this week will get a turn next time.
Information from The Screech Owl Sanctuary: I understand that they are having a special day on the 16th February where entry is just £5. I am sure that that is what Kay said, but I have been on the website and I cannot find that information confirmed. I desperately hope that I am not misinforming you !
Have a lovely weekend.
