Well, it is all happening in EYFS at the moment.
The chicks are due to hatch on Monday or Tuesday. The children can barely wait, and nor can the staff. There are 9 “Leghorn” eggs, so we cannot wait to see how many chicks we will get. The “chick cage” is in place, ready to receive our new arrivals!
The potatoes are growing really well.
The bean seeds are getting taller and taller – we drew fabulous diagrams of them this week.
The caterpillars have finished eating and eating and eating and now they are hanging, either in their “J shape” (ask the children about that) or they have turned into chrysalides. By Monday, they will all be chrysalides, and then the butterflies should emerge in a week to 10 days.
We have been having great fun learning the story of Chicken Licken, and learning about rhyming names.
We joined in the fun of Flora Day by learning the Furry Dance.
Our new trigraph this week is “air”.
In Maths we have been learning about number bonds – exploring different ways to make 5.
We have also explored 3 D shapes – cubes, cuboids, cylinders and spheres.
Have a lovely weekend.
