Where learning is fuelled by creativity

12th February 2020 in Whole School

What an exciting day! Today, the Green team have been lucky enough to visit Geevor Tin Mine, down in Pendeen. Arriving at the mine, the children were given hard hats and an action packed agenda – activities included a trip into a 300 year old mine, panning for precious gems and chatting to miners who actually worked at the mine when it was open! Venturing into Wheal Mexico (a hand-carved mine), listening to tales and stories from Geevor’s expert staff, the children began to fall in love with Cornwall’s mining heritage; something we came away from feeling hugely proud of! The children had the chance to climb into a nine man cage, once used by Cornish miners; who were lowered over 1500ft into the ground! The children showed amazing curiosity with the questions they asked. It was a brilliant experience for everyone.

The Green team would like to say a massive ‘thank you’ to all adults involved today – including Geevor’s wonderful team – who really helped to make the trip AMAZING!
