Where learning is fuelled by creativity

Weekly newsletter – 10.4.20

9th April 2020 in Whole School

Easter weekend and what glorious weather! For some of you this means relaxing with family in your homes and gardens, for others, it will mean being involved in the continual fight against COVID-19, to which we are truly grateful: the long hours, the fear and sacrifices you are making are humbling. Thank you, on behalf of our TMS community. Like many other people, our staff have been supporting the community when not in school. Many are volunteering – delivery shopping and prescriptions, and Mrs Coleman has been busy utilising her sewing skills by making face masks for Treliske and a local care home.

LEARNING – What amazing things you are all creating! Our staff are enjoying hearing from you all, whether it is learning they have suggested, or not related at all! As always, we put learning on the website for Monday morning in your Year group page. Opt in or opt out – you need to decide what it right for your family. We know that many families are aiming to pick up learning again after the Easter weekend, so you can either continue with the weekly updates, or go back a couple of weeks and see what you fancy! The Government has release a list of recommended websites to support learning. – CLICK HERE.

FOOD VOUCHERS – FINALLY, the company EDENRED have emailed families with their £15 food voucher per child, if they are usually entitled to Free School meals. It hasn’t been the most effective system, but it is dealing with the whole country. For most people, it has been found lurking in your Junk/Spam, so check in there. If you are having difficulties, our advice is to keep trying. Only half of the vouchers distributed to TMS families have been redeemed, so please have a look.

FREE SCHOOL MEALS – if your circumstances have changed in these challenging times, and want to check if you are now eligible for Free School meals (Pupil Premium) / Food vouchers, CLICK HERE to find out more.

The School will remain closed until further guidance from the Government, apart from supporting the children of critical workers.  If there are no other options, and you would like to book your child in, then please contact Mrs Weston secretary@threemilestone.cornwall.sch.uk and she will send you a booking form. To support the battle against Covid-19, it really must be used as a last resort. It is childcare – we are not providing education. We are really flexible and can be booked in, or cancelled at the last minute, you can also use the school for just morning or afternoon sessions. Collection time is flexible, please do not feel you need to wait until 3.15! Shells and Pebbles are open as well, if needed.

Have a look at all the great learning going on at home – and there has even been a TMS bake off! If you wanted to take part in the next one, contact year3homelearning@threemilestone.cornwall.sch.uk and I’m sure we can put you in touch!

All our staff are missing their classes, and have asked me to send you their good wishes!

Please stay at home and stay safe.

Ms Teagle

Mr Lara has been experimenting with faceswap! If you know who the 2 teachers are, email year2homelearning@threemilestone.cornwall.sch.uk and if you get it right, your name gets entered into the prize draw!!! Good luck!

There will be a new one next week!
