This afternoon, the Year 1 children embarked out into the village of Threemilestone, armed with coats and wellies, we didn’t let the rain spoil our plans! The children were really excited to be going out into the village and to be looking at our walking route on a local map, as they have been loving their Geography enquiry this term: ‘How Can I Use A Map To Explore Threemilestone?’ Next week, the children will be creating their very own maps of Threemilestone. They will add any significant locations that they feel are appropriate and will use their memory of today to add important human and physical geographical features to their map.
To support your child’s learning at home, you could ask them the following questions:
- What are the four points on a compass and what does it do?
- Why do maps have keys on them?
- What is a human feature?
- What is a physical feature?
- What is a bird’s eye view?
Miss Bryant and Miss Wallis would like to thank all of our amazing staff team and volunteers, who helped to make today so successful. We couldn’t provide these opportunities for our children without you ALL!
