This week, the children in Year 1 were able to make a seasonal vegetable soup! The children planned the soup by learning and reading about various vegetables. We then spent a session practicing our cutting skills development to ensure that we would be safe when working with the food. The children then prepared and cooked their food, taking care to use the knives in a safe manner and to maintain hygiene. At the end of the series of lessons, the children evaluated their soups – some found that it was absolutely delicious, whilst others weren’t particularly delighted with the taste!
