Where learning is fuelled by creativity

World Book Day 2025

6th March 2025 in Language Team, Whole School
What a day?! It is hard to know where to begin but it is certainly safe to say we all enjoyed World Book Day.
EYFS went on our very own TMS Bear Hunt, we had to find our way through the grass, the river, the sticky mud, the snowstorm and the forest and we eventually found the bear hiding in its cave! Well done EYFS you were great adventurers! We have also enjoyed reading with Years 3 and 4, it was great to see the children share books.

Year 1 had a great World Book Day, snuggled in pyjamas, enjoying a variety of reading experiences during ‘Drop everything and Read’, continuing our Drawing Club learning on Jack and the Beanstalk, completing activities planned by the Reading Champions, and finally sharing story books with our friends in Year 5! So much fun!

Year 2 have had a fun World book day! Firstly, we created a wanted poster for Jack the hero of our class English story. Next, the children completed a book scavenger hunt, an activity that was chosen by our previous Reading Champions, Oscar and Madison. Then we read some stories together with our Y6 partner class. This afternoon, we created our own lands inspired by our class reader “The Enchanted Wood” and finally created a map of the land. A great day was had by all!

We welcomed Theatre company, Oranges for Sharing, to work with Years 3 and 4 who have spent the day exploring characterisation. They took part in a variety of interactive games and exercises to develop their creativity, confidence and team-building skills. The children then brought their characters to life by using props and costume to perform to a wider group.
Years 5 and 6 have had a great day celebrating World Book Day. Throughout the day we have dropped everything to read, as well as spending this afternoon sharing stories with children in Year 1 and year 2. Our Reading Champs arranged many activities for us including a quiz, book scavenger hunt and a word search.
All of these wonderful activities were interspersed with our whole school activity of Drop Everything and Read. As you can see from the photos, EVERYONE joined in…including Poppy!
Lastly, we finished off our World Book Day by inviting EYFS and KS1 back for bedtime stories. We enjoyed our adult’s favourite bedtime stories with a warm hot chocolate and biscuit. Now isn’t that the perfect way to end a fabulous day!
We hope your children enjoyed the day and remember, keep turning those pages!
