This term in Year 5, the children have been learning all about Basquiat and his unique style of Neo-Expressionism, through their art unit on textiles & collage. Every Thursday, we have been experimenting with a range of collage techniques and drawing mediums to create various textures. For their final composites this week, the children have been tasked with planning and creating a final collage, that is inspired by Basquiat’s powerful pieces and conveys a unique message of their own. The children have chosen to use their artwork to fight against a range of topics that mean something to them, from covering anger at deforestation, bullying or racism, to promoting Fairtrade. We have some incredibly passionate and creative young TMS artists!
