Where learning is fuelled by creativity

Welcome to Mr Chirgwin!

21st May 2026 in Whole School
Dear Families,
I had a really enjoyable day at Threemilestone School on Tuesday. I feel truly honoured to have been given the opportunity to lead TMS into its next chapter, and I am fully committed to the children, staff, families and wider community.
I will be spending more time at TMS over the next couple of months as I work with the team in preparation for September, so please do stop and say hello if our paths cross. I look forward to meeting many of you on the school gate at drop-off and collection times on the days that I am there.
I have experience teaching across all year groups, from EYFS through to Year 6. I have also led SEND provision in my last two schools. Much of my practice is informed by a strong relational approach—fostering a positive, inclusive culture alongside clear boundaries and high expectations for respect and kindness.
The best part of my job is getting to know each child. I have started to get to know many of them during my visits and want to say what a wonderful community of children there is at TMS. During Tuesday’s lunchtime, I was challenged on my handstand ability and my knowledge of Greek mythology!
Born in Truro, I grew up locally and completed my A levels at Truro College before going on to study History at university. I then completed my teacher training, spending two terms of this at Threemilestone School! Although this was some years ago, it truly feels like I am returning somewhere special—a school that helped shape my early teaching practice. This will be my third headship, and I am very much looking forward to the years ahead working with you all.
I live locally and have a six-year-old daughter who attends a neighbouring school and I expect I may bump into many of you in the village and beyond. The staff at TMS who live in the village, have already reassured me that the families of TMS are really respectful of working and living in the same community, keeping the wonderful connections and smiles, and ensuring that the ‘school talk’ is limited to the school day. I thank you in advance for this!
When not at school, I enjoy spending time outdoors—whether that is surfing, swimming in the sea, running, or exploring the coast path and moors. I also enjoy gardening and being in nature; something I believe is increasingly important for both children and adults in a world surrounded by technology.
To everyone I have met so far, children, families and staff, thank you for such a warm welcome. I look forward to meeting many more of you over the coming weeks.
