Musician of the months – April and May – Jacob Collier

6th April 2026 in Creative Team

Jacob Collier is our amazing Musician of the Month! Jacob is a British singer, multi‑instrumentalist, and all‑round musical wizard who was born in London on 2 August 1994. From the time he was very small, music filled his home. His mum, Suzie Collier, is a violinist and a music teacher, so Jacob grew up surrounded by instruments, singing, and creativity.

Jacob started playing the piano when he was tiny, and as he grew up, he taught himself to play all sorts of instruments — keyboards, drums, guitars, and even unusual ones like the melodica! Today, he can play dozens of instruments, which is one of the reasons people call him a “musical genius.”

Jacob first became famous by making split‑screen music videos at home and posting them online. In these videos, he sings all the parts and plays every instrument himself. One of his early covers, Stevie Wonder’s “Don’t You Worry ’bout a Thing,” went viral and caught the attention of legendary musician Quincy Jones, who became his mentor.

In 2016, Jacob released his first album, In My Room, which he recorded in his family home. He wrote, played, and produced everything on it! His music mixes jazz, pop, folk and all kinds of exciting sounds, and he loves experimenting with harmonies — that means blending notes together in cool and unusual ways.

Jacob is also famous for turning his concert audiences into huge choirs. With just a wave of his hands, he gets thousands of people singing together in harmony — and the results are magical!

Today, Jacob continues to inspire people around the world with his imagination, joyful energy, and love of music. We hope he inspires you too!
