Where learning is fuelled by creativity

TMS Antibullying Week 2024

14th November 2024 in Anti bullying, Wellbeing Team, Whole School

EYFS have discussed the importance of kindness, and how words can have a big impact on the way someone feels. We talked about what bullying means and that it is when someone is unkind several times on purpose. Some of us wore odd socks to show how it is ok to be different. We were set the challenge of saying something kind to someone, EYFS were really good at this!

In Year 1 we have thought about how our grown-ups at school keep us safe, what bullying is thinking about STOP – several times on purpose – and how we respect each other. We have loved wearing odd socks this week to celebrate people’s differences, and how we are all unique. We even designed our own socks!

During anti-bullying week, year 2 have been learning about kindness and respect. We looked at the choice of words we use and how we say them in a kind way to someone else. We have also been busy creating odd socks looking at how it is okay to be different.

In Year 3 this week, we have been embracing Anti-Bullying week. We have had thoughtful discussions around power imbalances and repetitive behaviour. We have recognised the differences between ‘banter’ and hurtful behaviour with some role play. We designed some odd socks to understand differences between each other. We created a tally chart of kind actions towards each other throughout the week. We then made some posters using technology to show our knowledge about preventing bullying! Well done year 3!

Year 4 talked about kindness and respect and spent some time looking at an Anti-bullying Week Lifewise. We completed some activities, including designing a pair of odd socks and creating anti-bullying posters.

n Year 5 we have been spreading awareness as part of anti-bullying week, by wearing odd socks (we’ve had lots of fun looking at each other’s combinations!). Every day, we have also reflected on the importance of anti-bullying week. Through discussing what bullying is and isn’t and the importance of showing respect to all our peers. We then summarised this into both our Life Wise floor book, as well as individual posters that will be displayed around the school! Well done, Year 5!

This week for antibullying week Year 6 looked at a variety of bullying scenarios and discussed the actions to take in each situation; we also identified the target, ringleader and bystander in each situation. Additionally, we discussed if they thought there was a difference between how boys and girls bully others. Following this, we discussed factors that might lead someone to bully another person. We have had some very mature and interesting conversations in Year 6 this week.
