On Wednesday, Mr Bagley talked about the dangers of cyberbullying. The children are TMS are really good at knowing how to keep themselves safe online – but putting it into practice is more challenging. Out of all the situations which are children are most worried about, which feeds into school, is when children have been unkind online – whether this be via chat or through actions like ‘kicking people out’ in gaming.
It seems our children are more likely to be unkind, or type in inappropriate language on line – rather than actually verbalising it. Mr Bagley explained to the children the systems we have in place to keep children safe while they are on our school computers. The filtering systems and notifications are thorough, and if and when children are using bullying phrases, obscene language, homophobic or racist language, it immediately gets reported and staff see. The system also picks up any unusual, worrying or inappropriate searches.
This is another way our children know that we are keeping them safe.
On this newspost, there is information about a brilliant information session which TPAT are hosting supporting parents in the ever changing world of being online. We really would recommend you booking in. These opportunities to learn more are rare, so join in and learn more about how to keep your child safe in a world which you are likely to be one step behind – please don’t be naive!
With EYFS and KS1 and Mrs Beckett thought about the ‘Culture of the Heart’ word ‘amazing’. Mrs Beckett firstly read the story,‘Amazing’ by Steve Antony and then we thought about and discussed what amazing is and what we think is amazing. There were lots of great ideas.
