It has been such an eventful week for assemblies – so much to talk about this week!

We started with the news of the American election- a tight competition, trying to work out the Electoral College, the news that the concession speech was not going to happen and speak of imminent legal action. Discussions about fairness and how to lose were discussed across the school. The most exciting news, however, is the new Vice-President: Kamala Harris!  With her mother from India and father from Jamaica, this Californian born ambitious young girl, had worked hard and made it to the first woman in this position – and who knows what will happen in the 2024 election! We have a feeling we haven’t heard the last from Donald  Trump – many things can happen between now and 20th January.

In preparation for Remembrance Day, we took advantage to learn more about the horrors of World War 1. It was amazing to see how much our children remembered from the whole school visit to Truro 2 years ago – especially with tales of Trench foot, maggots and of course the 1914 football match. We also explored the historic event of the burial of ‘The Unknown Warrior’ – 100 years ago.
