Assemblies – Divali & Antibullying week

16th November 2023 in Anti bullying, Assemblies

In Monday’s assembly, we explored the Festival of Lights – Diwali. In this assembly we learnt about the story of Rama and Sita, a story of how good overcomes evil through the importance of friendship, loyalty, giving and sharing. We reflected on what it might be like to be the light in other peoples’ lives, and how we may show that daily in school.

During Tuesday’s assembly with Miss Body we talked about the definition of bullying, and how this can happen as part of a group. We talked about the different roles people may take on, and how important it is to be an ‘upstander or defender’ and speak out when you know that whatever is happening is not ok.

Wednesday assembly:
On Wednesday we looked at scenarios and identified what bullying is, The repetitive, intentional hurting of one person or group by another person or group, where the relationship involves an imbalance of power.

We challenged the traditional view of bullying ( victim / bully ) and explored the roles played in group bullying, how this impacts other people and what we should do if we see it or it happens to us.
