This week, it is National Children’s Mental Health week. This year, more than ever, it is really important to be aware of our own mental wellbeing, as well as our children’s. The awareness and discussion which comes alongside mental health is really important to have with all children: it is something which we can do something about!
The theme for this year is : EXPRESS YOURSELF
Why does finding healthy ways to express yourself matter?
Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, photography and film, and doing activities that make you feel good.
If you do activities which make you feel good, you will be nurture more positive mental wellbeing. It helps you feel good, happy, relaxed, excited and connected.
How does being creative and expressing yourself make you feel?
We don’t have to be the best dancer or painter, it’s about being relaxed and focusing in on what you enjoy.
Remember, we are all special, we are all different. We all cope with situations in different ways. Keep being kind to each other – you never know the full story of other people.
How can we help and support each other to get creative and express ourselves this Children’s Mental Health Week?
