Assemblies – week beginning 10.5.21 – ‘Maths in the World’

12th May 2021 in Assembly, Maths ( & STEM)
Mr Hick loves maths and this week his assemblies have been focusing on maths all around us.
With EYFS, year 1 and year 2 they looked together at his weekend and how maths had played a big part in it – from playing snakes and ladders through to baking a chocolate cake!
With years 3, 4, 5 and 6 Mr Hick explored maths in nature around us. This included looking at hexagons in bee hives, different types of symmetry and even something called fractals (where a similar pattern is repeated at different sizes).
Don’t forget this Thursday Mr Hick will be running a short session at 8pm for KS2 parents which will give some ideas of how to best support your child at home with maths. The Zoom is on the website and also will be email via Parentpay.
