Brass Instruments Demo and music lessons at school
We have been learning about the different sounds each instrument makes and listening to sounds in class and talking about which family of the orchestra they fit into.
Today – it was the turn of the BRASS FAMILY and Alan Pope came into school to show us how to play brass instruments and we even got to have a go. Alan Pope is going to be teaching brass at school and letters have gone home with children with details and a slip to return to the school if you’re interested in your child having lessons.
Alan Pope played the cornet, trumpet, trombone, a baby tuba (called a euphonium) and explained how each one works – with each using the same principle of making a buzzing sound with your lips into the mouthpiece which is then attached to the metal tube which amplifies the sound.
We got to try making the buzzing sound with our lips and even got to have a go making the buzzing sound into a mouthpiece.
We are delighted to be welcoming Alan Pope to our team of visiting music instrumental teachers at the school – with brass, violin, guitar, drum and keyboard lessons now happening at school – and look forward to hearing some of our children starting to play.
