Developing a positive mental health @ TMS

24th April 2021 in Wellbeing Team, Whole School

It’s been a tough year – there is no doubt about that.

And despite living in Cornwall, where we have not been comparatively affected as other areas nationally and internally, the emphasis on reflecting on mental health is as prominent. Our life situations are not to be compared to with others or to minimalise feelings and emotions, but to be taken seriously. Families all have different life experiences, trigger points, bundles of emotions …  and everything matters.

Mental health is worth a conversation: it is important to talk. What we consider unimportant, may be the main focus to someone else – we are all so wonderfully different.  Take time to listen.

Kindness to others is part of our TMS rules, but we also need to remember to be kind to ourselves. Remember, we are all human, and there will be times where we ‘mess up’. Life isn’t about getting things right all the time – it’s about what happens when things don’t go as planned. Have we given our children the confidence, resilience, love and support mechanisms to help us through a time which maybe a little more tricky than usual?

As all our families are aware, we have a ‘Trauma Informed Schools’ approach and ethos at TMS and this is something we are really proud of. Relationships will always come first. If  you feel that you, or your family, want to find out more about local support services or about how to develop a healthy wellbeing, please do not hesitate to contact your class teachers, the senior leadership team, or Mrs Thomas, our Pupil Support mentor.

Despite what you see on social media ..

No-one is perfect

No-one has perfect families

We are all just muddling through together 🙂

Live your own life!
