Where learning is fuelled by creativity

ECO week

31st July 2018 in Whole School

The whole of Threemilestone school took part in Eco week, where we all focused on our effects on the world we live in.

The main event of the week was a whole school litter pick where every class from reception to year 6 helped their local community by collecting litter in Threemilestone village. We were amazed at how much litter there was hidden in plain sight! Throughout the week children from across the school gave up their free time to help to build a greenhouse made from recycled bottles – a project that will continue next year in gardening club. We still need more of your old bottles!

Back in class, year 1 found out about the importance of recycling, year 3 discovered the impact of littering on the animals of our planet, year 5 took part in a Dragons Den style competition creating environmentally effective inventions and year 4 found out how to reduce their carbon footprint by using foods they can grow at home (like stinging nettle soup).

Now we all know we can make a difference to our world!
