Welcome to the Summer term!
We seem to have packed loads of learning into this 4 day week.
Phonics – we learned the digraph oi, and continued to revise all our sounds and blending skills.
In Maths we have revisited the numbers to 20 and explored the place value of teen numbers, for example 13 is made of a ten which we write as a 1 (one ten) and 3 ones. We are still practising counting sets of up to 20 objects accurately.
Our star learning this term is all about living things and growing things.
We have been lucky enough to be loaned an incubator and 9 Leghorn chicken eggs. I am sure the children have told you all about it. The eggs will hatch after 21 days incubation. We will keep you informed……
We have planted broad bean seeds.
The potatoes are growing beautifully.
We are also expecting some caterpillar eggs to be delivered which we will be observing turning into butterflies over the next month.
The whole school is having a learning focus on the brain. Our star teams are called Neurons (red), Cortex (yellow), Limbic (green) and Reptilian (blue). The children know which new team they are in. Today we did some brain related learning in our star teams. All of the learning activities were related to brain wellbeing, mindfulness and keeping our brains and bodies happy and healthy.
We did some Yoga
gardening,
art work about our families (healthy family relationships being vital to wellbeing)
and dough disco.
Sadly the weather prevented us from enjoying the mental and physical wellbeing induced by bike riding.
Have a lovely weekend!
