Where learning is fuelled by creativity

Floyd Steadman OBE visits TMS

12th July 2024 in Year 5, Year 6

Our Y5 and Y6 team were completely inspired today by the visit of Floyd Steadman. An incredible journey throughout his life, from bringing brought up in care to receiving an OBE, Mr Steadman has ensured that the barriers to achievement that he has come up in his life, he has handled with courage, determination and most of all kindness.

The racism encountered in different situations, whether is be in the playground, in the rugby world and even as a Headteacher of prestigious secondary schools, has meant that he is an advocate for encouraging the conversation about race, and that education means everything. As the first Black captain of Saracens rugby team, and the first Black Headteacher of a English Private School, he now speaks with passion not only about his own experiences, but recognises the influence and responsibility he has now has to educate others.

Another example of how learning about the Protected Characteristics and Equality Act of 2010 is crucial in the world we live in.

And his thoughts for the future…

“It is our choices which show what we truly are, far more than our abilities,” Dumbledore

Thank you Floyd for a truly magical morning, the generosity of your time, as well as copies of your book – already being devoured!
