Where learning is fuelled by creativity

From the Head

16th June 2023 in Headteacher's Update

We never seem to have a normal day at TMS at the moment, without a year group on residentials, trips and experiences in school to enhance the curriculum! We are so lucky to have an amazing staffing team who metaphorically fight over supporting children – especially on residentials! The Year 4 children were an absolutely credit to the school and to their families with their conduct in Bristol. Their manners, respectful behaviour and kindness was noted by all staff, and also members of the public – thank you!

We have also had less exciting experiences, but equally positive days this week, with the county moderation visit, looking at our Y6 writing, working with our Y6 team and validating our judgements, our Y1 and Y2 teams wowing the staff with their phonics screening, and the Y4 children whizzing through their multiplication check. Well done everyone – incredible stamina and resilience shown.

Unfortunately, we have had to send a letter home to parents and carers of Year 6 children about behaviour in the park, with concerns raised from worried residents of TMS. We have this week, had concerns raised about disrespectful behaviour and obscene language from younger children in the park. Please don’t have your children unsupervised, and if they are unsupervised as they are older, please make this decision with caution. If you are seeing situations which are causing concern in the park, please contact 101 to log any safeguarding worries.

Next week it continues to be a whirlwind of activities: Y5 residential, EYFS beach visit, Y6 Police community project and the Year 1 visit to the Screech Owl sanctuary.
