Where learning is fuelled by creativity

From the Head

20th January 2023 in Headteacher's Update

What an exciting week!! Playing in the snow on Monday gave the children (and staff) such delight, with snowball fights, snowmen and snow angels being a focus throughout the morning! The pure excitement of the children was priceless and so, so special. We also filled the Galaxy Ball tube, showing how well the children had learned and worked successfully in their STAR teams, honouring Supernova afternoon with a range of activities and being with different children as a celebration of our successes. On Wednesday, we had a Governor visit with Mr Chippett and Mr Blizzard, working with Mr Wake and Miss Wallis to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of mathematics in KS2. It was a really exciting day seeing the amazing learning going on!

Next week, our year 1 and 2 children will be working with Grace Murdoch, our visiting dance specialist! Children higher up the school who have had the privilege of working with Grace before, can absolutely guarantee that they will have a fantastic time, discovering skills they never knew they had!! For our staff, and visiting staff from schools in TPAT, we are hosting training once again from Hannah Hall, who our teaching staff listened to at the start of January. She was so amazing, we asked her back to train all our staff. ‘When the adults change’ by Paul Dix goes through how to create a culture in school based on positive relationships, something you as parents know, we value highly. We also have a school improvement visit on Friday with Chris Gould, our Direction of Education, focusing on the early reading and Art – a day we know Miss Bryant is very much looking forward to! If you want to find out more about the way our children learn in art, you can access our art curriculum here.

I hope you all have an amazing weekend!
