Where learning is fuelled by creativity

Head’s Update

6th January 2023 in Headteacher's Update

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It has been an incredible start to 2023. It may have been only 3 days, but the children are so settled and we are all raring to go. Learning has started across the curriculum and it has been amazing to feel the wonderful buzz around the school.

On Tuesday, the teaching team had one of the best INSET days we have ever had from Hannah Hall @theadultschange. We have been using Paul Dix’s wise words through his books to support our approach to relationships, focusing on consistency, insistency and persistency! Having high expectations and embedded rules and routines ensure children feel safe, feel secure and ultimately flourish. Through Hannah’s inspirational morning, we reflected on our practice and how to move forward as a team. It was great to share this experience with colleagues from Blackwater, Kehellend, Trewirgie and Newlyn schools.

We hope that you have managed to catch our Zoom sessions in EYFS and Years 3, 4 and 6. If you were unable to attend, you are able to email in to the office for a recording – apologies, the Year 4 internet connection was dodgy, so please pop into see Mr Rutterford or Miss Burt if you wanted to catch up. Years 1, 2 and 5 – yours are next week, with links on the diary dates. You will also find Learning Letters, Home Learning grids, spelling lists and STAR Guides on the Year group pages on the school website.

As this very busy term gets underway, remember that all staff are here to help. Never hesitate to contact us with any questions or worries – or just for a catch up on the doors in the morning!

Have a wonderful weekend and see you on Monday!

Ms Teagle – Headteacher
