MEDO cafe @ TMS

26th September 2024 in Our Community

A message from Lynn and The MEDO Cafe Threemilestone team:

There are currently over 5000 people in Cornwall diagnosed with dementia and memory loss. In the UK, the number of people diagnosed is predicted to grow by 80% by 2040. Carers currently provide around two-fifths of the UK’s total health care for dementia. Carers are often slow to recognise themselves as such, yet caring so often impacts upon a carer’s own health and wellbeing. MEDO will provide support for both people with dementia/memory loss and their carers

We have many years of experience of running another Memory Cafe and we are working very closely with the Network for Memory Cafes and Disability Cornwall, who’s policies, constitution and insurance we will be using. After looking at many different venues we have decided to open this new venture in the lounge bar of the Victoria Inn, in Threemilestone, on the first and third Tuesday of every month, starting on the 1st of October. We will be called The MEDO Cafe – M for Memory loss, E for emotions, D for Dementia, and O for opportunities

Below is a link to our Facebook page. Hopefully by the end of next week you will start seeing our poster and information around the Threemilestone area.
