Where learning is fuelled by creativity

Newsletter 10.12.21

10th December 2021 in Newsletters, Uncategorized

We are having such a wonderful time at school – with constant singing and excitement filling the classrooms and corridors, as well finalising STAR learning and maths sequences of learning. The EYFS and Year 1 children performed brilliantly this week in their nativities, and really showed teamwork, confidence and enjoyment on stage – every child absolutely shining! Of course these appearingly seamless productions could never happen without the patience, hard work and belief of the adult team around the children – a real heartfelt thank you to the staff for their determination  to give our children and the families this really special experience in still, uncertain times. We are still planning on having a live performance of the Y2 Nativity, but will reevaluate after the weekend. Our positive covid cases in school are decreasing, but we are also aware that events outside of school are on the increase … so fingers crossed we can keep ourselves in a covid free bubble until then!

Next week we have our Christmas parties and Christmas lunches: we have a lot to fit in, giving our children the special Christmas end of term they deserve!

Wednesday was a very special day for many of our children. Wearing their cubs uniform as a sign of respect, our children remembered a very special lady, Judy Annear, Akela. It was Judy’s funeral on Wednesday and by wearing the uniform with such pride really brought home what an impact she had on so many lives in the community. We continue to send our thoughts and love to Judy’s families from our school.

It has also given me great pleasure this term to work alongside the team of PALs (Pupil as Leaders). It has been an incredible group of leaders who have really come up with many ideas to move the school forward, as well as taken on any responsibilities in the classrooms and across the school. Thank you to these 30 children for their energy, enthusiasm and high levels of responsibility. The new PALs will be voted in in the first week in January – so get planning your speech if you are interested in taking up this position!

We all wish you a happy weekend – keeping germ free and safe!
