25.09.2020

It has been an absolute pleasure to welcome into our TMS community, our new cohort of Early Years children: ready to be part of something really exciting! They have been just incredible this week, showing resilience, friendship and kindness – it is going to be a wonderful 7 years together! Thank you to all our EYFS staff for making the start of the journey at our school such a positive experience. Our STAR curriculum is something that we really value at TMS and we have been determined not to let this be narrowed due to the impact of the last 6 months: it is more important than ever. This week, we have had some amazing art learning across the school, we have been working with the Cornish Pirates, building houses in DT, learning about our composer of the month Bach, KS2 have continued with their regular French lessons, launching ‘Lifewise’ our new RSHE (Relationship, Sex & Health Education) learning, and we have been talking about the world around us at all opportunities.

I wish you a happy weekend; stay safe, look for those opportunities to learn, and remember the autumnal non-uniform day on Wednesday – our Harvest Festival.

Homelearning

All children will have already been issued a reading book. Our homelearning grids, STAR guides (what they are learning about this year) and spelling lists will be available from Monday 28th September. We have ensured that children are settled, assessed appropriately, before making these decisions. You will have a paper copy going home, as well as everything being available on the website. All the year over curriculum maps are already on the website. For maths there will be homework set on MyMaths and regular tables practice on Times Tables Rocks Stars.

Harvest Festival

This year, we still feel it is important to celebrate Harvest, as historically, this is an event which never goes unmarked. We have decided that this year, we will hold our Harvest Festival on 30th September, and Rev’d Jeremy or his colleague Alice, is able to join us for our Zoom assembly on that day. This year, we are asking children to bring in long life products, which we can then donate to the food bank. Any other items you feel they would benefit from, please bring in also e.g. toothpaste, shampoo etc

On this day, we are also asking children to wear autumnal colours, for our non-uniform day. We are asking all children to bring in £1: this will be a donation towards the Foodbank based at All Saints Church. During Lockdown, the support the school, and some of our families received was generous and made a difference.

On your bike – CANCELLED

Bike to school week will no longer take place next week but we are hoping, and looking forward to taking part in the Sustrans Big Pedal later in the year between 19 and 30 April 2021.

After careful consideration we found that we would be unable to keep everyone Covid safe around the bike store with the huge increase of bikes that such an exciting week generates. We are truly sorry for any disappointment this may cause but why not have a go at Active travel to school such as walking, scooting, park and stride instead. Thank you for your understanding.

Individual School Photos – Wednesday 7th October

We are working closely with the school photographers and this year they will be unable to take family or sibling photos due to their current Covid working guidelines.

Remote learning & School closure

We have put together our plan for remote learning for when / if we are having to close a bubble. You will find this plan on the website:

https://www.threemilestone.cornwall.sch.uk/remote-learning/

Protocols for Dealing with Confirmed Cases of Coronavirus

There are already bubbles being closed in schools nearby, and so we do need to be prepared. The bubble will only be closed if a child in that bubble has a positive test, or a member of staff who is part of that bubble has had a positive test.  In this case, we will contact the bubble via email. Following guidance, we WILL NOT be letting parents/carers know the details of the person who has tested positive. Your child will have to isolate (not the whole family) for a total of 14 days, and WILL NOT have to have a test unless they are showing symptoms.

Bubbles WILL NOT be closed if there is a child who is living with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19: the child is required to isolate, and go for a test if they show symptoms. Again, we would not disclose to the school community the details of the child or family.

At all times, the school will be instructed by PHE and we follow their guidance, as well as working closely with the TPAT Health and Safety team.

Booking School Lunches

Please remember to continue to book your child’s school lunch every day via Parent Pay. EYFS Parents should now have received their Parent Pay activation letter, if you are having problems accessing Parent Pay please let the office know and they will do their best to get issues resolved as soon as possible.

Parking at School

We have received some concerns from local residents about their driveways being blocked at the beginning of the day and particularly at the end of the day. If you are using a car for either drop off or pick up then please do be courteous to our neighbours and ensure that you do not block access.
