With much excitement, we have started our countdown to the magic date of 8th March! We are hoping that the children are looking forward to being back as much as the school staff. We have World Book Day to look forward to on Thursday, and there will be more information sent home about story times throughout the day, Zoom challenges for each year group, as well as the ultimate ‘THE MASKED READER’ competition!

Enjoy your last 5 days of remote learning, all staff continue to be amazed and so incredibly appreciative of all the efforts your families have achieved over the last 6 weeks.

Free School Meals

Everyone in EYFS, Year 1 and 2 are entitled to Universal School Meals – a free meal when they are at school. This is not the same as claiming additional support if you are on benefits. If you are unsure how the system works and whether you could be entitled, please phone the office to talk it through. In times when you are away from school, it is crucial to ensure that families have all the support you need, and everything everyone is entitled to. 

Many family situations are changing due to this ongoing pandemic. World Book Day 2021

This year World Book Day falls on Thursday 4th March. As a school we cannot miss out on the chance to celebrate World Book Day and so have planned a series of at home and online activities. On Thursday all children at TMS will be read the same story – The Billy Goats Gruff – and will then spend their day completing a series of different activities based around this story. For all children including EYFS, there will be a morning zoom, where stories will be shared, and an afternoon Zoom, where the children can catch up on what their classmates have been up to throughout the day. For the list of activities to complete throughout the day, check your emails on Monday morning! Children both in school and at home are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character just as they would on a normal World Book Day! 

Also on World Book Day, there will be:

• Story time with teachers. Teaching staff will be reading a selection of different stories aloud on zoom. There is no need to sign up, just click on the zoom link of whatever story you fancy!
• The Masked Reader. Keep your eyes peeled for videos of our school Masked Readers which will be released on the website/facebook throughout the day. Will you be able to identify the Masked Readers correctly?

Taking action!

Like many children at TMS, Immy in Year 4 cares passionately about the environment. She has been out picking up litter with her family and shocked as to how much they found. Immy felt so strongly and wanted to make a difference so much she decided to write to our MP, Cherilyn Mackrory.

When we return to school, Mrs Ewart, our Eco champion, is keen to meet up to see what we can plan for our school – within covid guidelines.
