Where learning is fuelled by creativity

Newsletter 26.11.21

26th November 2021 in Newsletters

Like all schools at the moment, we have been hit by lots of sickness, germs and covid – children and staff. Thank you to all our families for patience and understanding while staffing has been difficult. We have, nonetheless, tried to carry on to give our children rich experiences! We had a successful Children in Need day raising £647, took part in several sporting fixtures this week and even started our Christmas singing!

In the 3 weeks ahead, we have so much planned and schools really are an exciting place to be around Christmas. Keep your eyes on the website and Parent Pay for any changes and up to date information.

Have a wonderful weekend – and wrap up warm!

Ms Teagle

COVID UPDATE

As you are aware from the letters emailed home this week, we have a small amount of positive cases within the school. With all cases, we report to both TPAT and PHE and seek advice. In light of these cases in school, and the high amount of covid within the Truro community, we have made some decisions regarding Christmas events.

  • The EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 nativities are planning to go ahead. (Decision will still be made depending on covid situations closer to the time) Please can all adults who attend do a lateral flow being coming into school and we are respectfully asking all adults to wear a mask throughout the performance.
  • We are cancelling the Y3/4 and Y5/6 Christmas Sing-a-long. We will build in opportunities for small groups of carol singing around the village, but nothing confirmed yet.
  • We are cancelling families coming into school for our Christmas Art afternoon.
  • We are cancelling the afternoon when we invite the elderly into school to listen to our singing.

Everything else in the diary will be going ahead, but obviously we will continue to listen to advice closer to the time.

Christmas Free School Meal Vouchers

We are pleased that the government has provided a further round of support via the Covid Local Support Grant, which means that funding has now been made available to schools to issue vouchers over the Christmas holiday. Therefore, we will be issuing vouchers to the value of £30 per eligible pupil, in the same way as we have previously, using the WONDE platform. These will be delivered via email as soon as we can.

If you think your family may be eligible for Free School Meals please complete the form on the Cornwall Council website. https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/schools-and-education/schools-and-colleges/school-meals/apply-for-free-school-meals-and-pupil-premium/

Truro BID – Charity Christmas card Competition

Children from our after school art club participated in the Truro BID and Joli Boutique Charity Card Competition in aid of Shelterbox. All the entries will be beamed up in two locations during the late night shopping events this year. Each school had a finalist chosen by Mayor Steven Webb. We are very pleased to confirm the finalist from Threemilestone is Lily (age 7). She has won a £10 book token, a £5 voucher for Joli Boutique and a certificate. Congratulations Lily!

Congratulations to all the children who entered and hope they have the chance to spot their work at the Late Night Shopping evenings over the Festive period.

 PTFA Christmas Prize Draw

The PTFA have sent home 1 book of raffle tickets per child, for the Christmas prize draw. If you would like any more, there are spares in the office. This years prizes include: 1st Prize £100, 2nd Prize £50, 3rd Prize £25, plus gift cards and various other prizes to support local businesses.

If anyone is able to contribute to the Christmas hampers we would be very thankful.
