PARLIAMENT: TMS should have a whole school water fight – THE DEBATE!

24th June 2019 in TMS Parliament

We have to say, although quite heated at times, our MPs set a fantastic example of how people should speak to each other today in our great debate (not like the real politicians!). We have had superb persuasive arguments broth ‘for’ and ‘against’ and we cannot wait to vote tomorrow!

Here are a few thoughts…

Against…

” It was only a few days ago that our school was raising money for soccer aid for UNICEF. One thing UNICEF does is work towards every child having clean water. It would be very sad if we wasted water by throwing it at each other as only they other day we were giving money to UNICEF who help children to get clean water.”
“Health and Safety – do I need to mention anything else?!”
” It is something NOT for school – school is inclusive and not everyone would think it is a good idea.”
” Some people have massive sensory needs and this is an idea from hell.”
“A ‘fight’ is against our school rules!”
“A waste of water when there are people in the world who go without.”
“Water in ears leads to ear infections.”
For…
“This will be a fun experience and be a day you will remember for the rest of your life. Let’s face it who doesn’t want to get Mrs Coleman soaking wet!! “
“Teachers say that we need to have fun in order to learn .. and this is fun!”
” We need to learn to take risks – planned risks.”
I think the voting will be a close one … with the against arguments feeling much stronger.
Thank you to all those at home who have supported our children with our ‘water splashing (or- non water splashing ..)’ brilliant debate.
It’s been fantastic!
