Philip Pullman – KS2 Author of the half term

Philip Pullman is one of our FAVOURITE authors in KS2 with books accessible from Y3 to Y6 … and beyond! See if you can remember these facts and see how many books you can read this half term!

  • Philip was born in Norwich in 1946, and educated in England, Zimbabwe, and Australia, before his family settled in North Wales.
  • He began his career as a teacher at the age of 25, and taught at various Oxford Middle Schools before moving to Westminster College in 1986.
  • Philip has published over thirty books and two plays.
  • His first children’s book was Count Karlstein (1982, republished in 2002). 
  • Philip’s English teacher inspired him to become an author.
  • Philip Pullman is the author of several best-selling books, most notably the fantasy trilogy His Dark Materials which has sold over 22 million copies worldwide.
