- Philip was born in Norwich in 1946, and educated in England, Zimbabwe, and Australia, before his family settled in North Wales.
- He began his career as a teacher at the age of 25, and taught at various Oxford Middle Schools before moving to Westminster College in 1986.
- Philip has published over thirty books and two plays.
- His first children’s book was Count Karlstein (1982, republished in 2002).
- Philip’s English teacher inspired him to become an author.
- Philip Pullman is the author of several best-selling books, most notably the fantasy trilogy His Dark Materials which has sold over 22 million copies worldwide.
