Where learning is fuelled by creativity

Rotary Club Writing competition

7th January 2026 in Language Team

Our Children have been invited to compete in the Rotary Young Writer Competition, encouraging creative and expressive writing in young people. The competition takes place every year, in 3 age groups, and is easy to enter and always produces many wonderful pieces of writing.

This first stage of the competition is managed by the Rotary Club of Truro Boscawen and is for the Truro area schools.

The competition theme this year isĀ Happiness in Nature – one that we feel offers great imaginative scope and the possibility of a variety of interpretations.

Last year Truro area schools submitted 163 entries which were marked by 10 independent judges. They have always done well, with entries frequently going on to the next stage of the competition at District Level (Cornwall and Devon) and sometimes on to the National Finals. They give a Certificate to every entrant and also good prizes to the top pieces in each age category.

The closing date is Fri 30 January, 2026 and entries can be sent in at any time before that.

Good luck!
