This half term’s STAR team names are chosen to honour British Musicians who have been successful on their own terms. All of these musicians, are not only ridiculously talented, they have shown, character, resilience and hard graft to achieve great things.
Vanessa Mae is is a Singaporean-born British violinist with album sales reaching several million. Not only is she a world class musician, but she has represented Thailand at the winter olympics!
Sir Elton John needs no introduction, with a career spanning six decades and over 300million albums sold he is a household name across the world. He is also the head of the Elton John AIDS foundation, raising money and awareness for AIDS charities.
Dame Shirley Bassey is the Welsh diva, whose powerhouse voice has provided the vocals for three James Bond themes and is commonly regarded as one of the most popular singers in Britain. In 2020, Bassey became the first female artist to chart an album in the Top 40 of the UK Albums Chart in seven consecutive decades.
Adele is a well known British performer with over 120million album sales world wide (making her one of the world’s best selling artists) with too many awards to mention.
All of the above artists have been chosen as positive role models for children who’s diverse range of interests and philanthropic interests will provide an ideal starting point for children to investigate how individuals can make an impact on the world around them.
