In assembly on Monday, we spent time discussing STOP HATE CRIME week. Unpicking what hate crime is, and the link to the 9 protected characteristics we constantly refer to, was really interesting and the development of being unkind to someone, and how significant this is when he unkindness comes from a place reflecting who that person is, not because of what someone has chosen to do.
At TMS, this reflects in the way we expect kindness and respect in our TMS rules, and also in showing integrity when it comes to reporting it. The challenge of language used is crucial in banish hate crime at any stage in life: whether that be in school or in later life. We talked through how crucial it is to contact families, further educate, and as a school, the responsibility we hold in having to report hate crime to the Local Authority.
