On Monday this week, 12 children had the opportunity to go to ‘The Big Sing’ at the Hall for Cornwall. The children, from the Sing It Group, have been learning lots of songs with Mrs Browning throughout this year and The Big Sing, was an opportunity to come together with children from lots and lots of other primary schools to sing all together.
In the first half of the event, we learnt some fun warm up songs including: ‘I’ve got a head like a ping pong ball’! and ‘Singing in Harmony’. There was a band on the stage with a keyboard player, lots of saxophones, a drummer and a percussion player. Also joining Angela Renshaw (who led the event) were singers from Cornwall Youth Choir. It was really fun to sing along with lots of other singers and to learn new songs. Also in the first half we had a quick sing through of each of the eight songs that we’ve been learning.
After a quick lunch break, we then came back to sing through all the songs together. We particularly liked singing ‘Happy’, ‘Symphony’ and ‘Firework’. Over 1,000 children were in a packed Hall for Cornwall and singing together, with a live band it was just brilliant!
Well done to all the singers who came along (and Ms Moyle for coming with us) and also to all the children who have come to Sing It Club this year.
