TMS Parliament: Children should wear non-uniform every Friday from half term to Christmas … DEBATE!

20th September 2018 in TMS Parliament

So, TMS MPs have held our first Parliament meetings this week; one to introduce ourselves and the other to discuss possible motions for the school to debate.

We had so many great ideas for motions:

  • The school will invite all children to bring their pets to school
  • Children must take off their shoes for learning
  • Each class must have PE every day
  • The school will allow chocolate for snacks
  • Children are allowed to bring their devices to school and be allowed to spend time on them every day

After much discussion, we decided that our motion which will be discussed, researched and finally debated across the school will be:

Children will wear non-uniform every Friday from half term to Christmas

The next step for the children is to do some thinking and some research, and decide whether they agree with this motion or not. Feel free to support them to find some research to back up their thoughts, or even collect some views and reasons of adults at home.

We will be debating this motion in class on Friday 12th October where the MPs will be leading the debate by writing a persuasive speech, and all children can then share their research and views.

The final vote will be on Monday 15th October.

If the motion passes, we will wearing non-uniform every Friday from half term to Christmas.

If the motion is not passed, we will carry on as usual!
