My favourite children’s book is Skellig by Newcastle born author, David Almond. In the book a boy called Michael is really worried as his baby sister is very ill and in hospital awaiting treatment. He has recently moved house and finds a creature that looks half-starved and he assumes he is a homeless man living amongst their boxes. He decides to look after him and soon the creature starts demanding options from the local Chinese takeaway and bottles of Brown Ale. Michael starts to investigate what this creature is and why he is here and starts to learn there is a link with his baby sister.
This story will make you rethink any ideas you already have about angels.
It’s also a favourite of our Year 5s and 6s … a must read!
