Where learning is fuelled by creativity

TMS Remembers …

11th November 2020 in Our Community

We had a wonderful morning, learning about WW1, the Armed Forces and the work of the British Legion and Remembrance Day. Across the school we produced some fantastic learning, remembering our whole school visit to Truro 2 years ago to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the end of the war, and today recognising the 100 year anniversary of the burial of ‘The Unknown Warrior’ in Westminster Abbey.

For our moment of silence, we welcomed in once again, Mr Alan Pope, to play The Last Post on his bugle. Our children participated in the commemoration, standing in their bubbles, distanced apart, and for a very short time:a wonderful time of unity in this challenging time. Many thanks go to Mr Pope for making this day so special.

Year 6 have been exploring Remembrance themed Haikus:

Year 2 have been learning about tone in art:

Year 5 learning about Remembrance:

Year 4 have been using watercolours and making cards:

And in year 3…

And Thank you to Ava for this wonderful presentation for homelearning.

BRASS INSTRUMENTS
All classes have been learning about the instruments in the brass family – including the cornet which we heard played beautifully by Alan Pope today. Alan Pope will be returning to the school in December to demonstrate more brass instruments and tell us more. We’re delighted to be welcoming Alan Pope to our instrumental teaching team from January.  Details about how to sign up for brass instrument lessons will be posted at the end of term.
