Hello parents and carers!
Normally on a Friday we write a blog on Tapestry about the learning that has taken place that week but as we are not ready to ‘go live’ with it yet we are popping it on the website!
We wanted to let you know how absolutely delighted we are with the way in which the children have settled in during their first week of school here at TMS! Already they are learning routines with confidence and making new friends, as well as settling into the learning! This week we have introduced 4 sounds: s, a, t and p. In the reading diary your child has brought home today you will find some information on Little Wandle, our chosen phonics scheme, which includes the order in which we teach the sounds, how we pronounce each sound, and the formation phrase for each one. Please talk to your child about their learning this week to help secure their understanding.
Each child is bringing home a sharing book, and this is what Little Wandle have to say: ‘In order to encourage your child to become a lifelong reader, it is important that they learn to read for pleasure. The sharing book is a book they have chosen for you to enjoy together. Please remember that you shouldn’t expect your child to read this alone. Read it to or with them. Discuss the pictures, enjoy the story, predict what might happen next, use different voices for the characters, explore the facts in a non-fiction book. The main thing is that you have fun!’
We ask that reading folders come to school every day. Thank you. (For those who haven’t ordered/received reading folders yet we have provided temporary files for now so your child can still bring a book home!)
If you have any questions/comments about your child and their learning, please come and speak to us so we are all working together.
Have a lovely, relaxing weekend after a busy and tiring week!
