WORLD BOOK DAY CELEBRATIONS

3rd March 2020 in English, TOP READS, Whole School

A really exciting few days coming up!

World Book Day – St.Piran’s Day
World Book day will soon be upon us and to keep in with the ‘Cornish Theme’ we are inviting children this year to come dressed as Giants, mermaids, pixies and anything else Cornish!
As always, there is no pressure from the school to come up with innovative costumes which require time or money. The focus on World Book Day will be on Cornish legends NOT the quality of dressing up.
Autograph are also providing a ‘Cornish themed’ lunch on Thursday 5th March to help us celebrate both St.Piran’s Day and World Book Day – The choices are either a Meat Pasty or a Cheese Pasty. These options are already available for children by booking via Parent Pay in the normal way.
We will also have a scholastic book fair everyday after school in the hall from 5th March – 11th March.

KERNOW BYS VYKEN
As if we hadn’t got enough going on at TMS on World Book Day, we are very much hoping that our TMS Book ‘Kernow Bys Vyken’ will be published by then! We are really excited about this book – a book where every single child will have a piece of their writing published!

‘Waterstones’ have invited a group of our children to set up an area in the store so that we can sell them there – please pop in and visit us! The book will also be sold at school.

TMS Book Swap
On Friday 6th March we are holding a Book Swap.
We are really excited about the TMS Book swap. The day after World Book Day we will be swapping and enjoying new
books.
1. Choose a book at home which you feel another child will enjoy
2. Design a bookmark, or pop in a note of why this book is amazing and what age group you feel would enjoy it etc.
3. Bring it into the hall in the morning, leave it there and pick up a token
4. Come back later in the day and choose another book
5. Hand in your token, take the book … and enjoy!
Please ensure that all books which come in are in a good condition.
