With some of the current pupils at Threemilestone Primary School likely to live,
work or visit the Garden Village in the future, we are always keen to keep them
up to date with what is happening with Langarth and to get their views on our
plans.
During the past two years we have visited the school a number of times to speak
to different groups of pupils, and have taken others to visit parts of the site and
help us plant trees in our tree nursery.

Two of our project team – Alice Brown and Sarah Treliving – recently went to the
school to talk to Year 3 pupils who were learning all about settlements and
creating communities as part of their geography curriculum.

The children were particularly interested in hearing about the 50,000 trees we
will be planting at Langarth, and also about our plans for using renewable
energy to power the homes and buildings.
As well as explaining about the plans for new schools, park, play areas and
green spaces, Alice and Sarah also talked about the skills which will needed to
build and maintain the Garden Village during the next 20 to 25 years.

Creating the Garden Village will provide many hundreds of jobs of all kinds, from
designing and building the roads, houses and other buildings on the site, to
people working in the shops and offices, and those providing health and care
services and teaching in the schools. People will also be needed to maintain the
parks and open spaces.
With some children expressing interest in working as architects or builders at
Langarth, others wanted to help us to plant more trees or get involved in
designing the play areas.

They also asked Alice and Sarah about what they did in their roles as project
managers for Langarth, keen to find out how many hours they worked and how
much they were paid!.
A huge thank you to teachers Miss Body and Mrs Vale, and to all the Year 3
pupils for making us so welcome and asking such amazing questions.
It was great to see their enthusiasm for the scheme and we look forward to
continuing to work with Threemilestone Primary School as the Garden Village
develops.
