Where learning is fuelled by creativity

Y6 Viking art – 3D form

30th November 2021 in Creative Team, Year 6

Last week in Year 6, the children were incredibly enthusiastic when learning about this term’s art focus – 3d Form!

The children were tasked with planning, creating and reviewing their own Viking figure, which would be made out of two materials (clay and wire) and had to be able to stand up on its own. The project needed a lot of patience and determination, but we had so much fun (although, we did lose a few limbs and heads along the way!).
Please ask your children about the following new vocabulary, which we have learned this term:
What does the word ‘armature’ mean?
What does it mean if a material is ‘malleable?’
Hopefully, your children’s creations made their way home to you all in one piece – something to bring a smile to anyone’s face!
