Today, Year 2s joined Year 4s to learn how to paired-read effectively and how use dictionaries to find words they weren’t sure about. This was a great experience for the Year 4s to teach a year group who are just starting to move onto the type of reading sessions that are taught in KS2; and for the Year 2s, it was useful for them to see how the alphabet is used to search words in dictionaries. We are hoping to use this practice more in reading to develop inter year group relations as well as support the younger years to work independently 🙂
