Where learning is fuelled by creativity

Year 3 visit Geevor

2nd March 2026 in Humanities Team, Year 3
Year 3 had a fantastic day exploring Geevor Tin Mine as part of our history learning about mining and local heritage.
During our visit, the children explored some of the underground tunnels, saw authentic mining equipment and learned how the tin was processed. They even had a go at doing different jobs down the mine, which gave them a real insight into the daily lives of miners. The hands-on experiences helped bring our classroom learning to life in an exciting and memorable way.
One of the highlights of the day was talking to people who had worked at Geevor Mine. The children asked thoughtful questions about what their days would have been like and listened carefully to the fascinating stories shared with them. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect directly with living history.
An enormous thank you to all the staff at Geevor for bringing our history learning to life and making the day so memorable and exciting, answering our many questions and being such great fun throughout.
Well done to the children for representing Threemilestone School with such pride. They were well-mannered, enthusiastic and curious all day – truly brilliant historians!
